WHAT IS HEVC?
HEVC, often known as high-efficiency video coding, is a specialized video compression standard. Modern video cameras, notably those in smartphones like iPhones, produce large raw video data. These video files can be reduced in size using HEVC so they can be saved on portable storage devices, hard drives, or broadcast over the internet.
HEVC video is becoming more popular, HEVC is now the default video format for iPhones, and 4K UHD Blu-rays also support it.
WHY HEVC MUST BE INSTALLED TO USE THIS FEATURE.
HEVC must be installed in Filmora because it is a newer video compression format that offers better compression than older formats like H.264. If you use iPhone or Android to shoot a video, the video format is in HEVC. On some phones, you can change the camera format when shooting your video but on iPhones like 11 and above it's default.
Not that, not all video players and editing programs, including Filmora, natively support HEVC. For this reason, before you can edit the video in Filmora, you must install the HEVC codec.
